Island Landscape Series | Mist System

The form unfolds through rotation,
as layers of clay overlap,
creating a soft and continuous texture.

Color layers rise from the lower body,
like mountain mist slowly lifting through the terrain,
accumulating again and again within light and humidity.

The work takes mist and evening glow as its core language,
expressing the movement of moisture within an island climate.

The mountain is not defined by contour,
but gradually emerges and recedes
through the covering and dispersing of mist.

In the wood-firing process,
the glaze softens and flows under high temperature,
while colors merge and permeate across the surface.

Gray-green, pale orange, and darker tones shift against one another,
forming a luminosity like twilight breaking through fog.

Fire and atmosphere converge here,
bringing the surface into a state between clarity and obscurity.

The body tapers upward,
creating an enveloping sensation in the hand,
allowing warmth and breath to gather within.

When tea enters the vessel,
the mist-like layers respond to light and temperature,
continuing to awaken through use.

Mountain Mist & Evening Glow Grip Cup
holds the humidity and shifting light of the island within the palm,
unfolding slowly between movement and stillness.
